World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a popular measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is able to deal. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

It's not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.

Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, it must be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in the early game than later ones because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or crafted by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

item upgrading  overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
